Was not getting work from this project on this machine. Remembered the IP change and removed the project. Now getting the error "failed to add project". Do not get to the user name and password entry. No other clues to why. EDIT: Initial error was "HTTP file not found". Which was corrected on another server by removing and adding. A 3rd server is getting "HTTP file not found" and a project reset forced it to d/l the master table (possibly update the IP address) and now that 3rd server is getting work. (Haven't used this project since before the IP change) |

In reply to Aurum's message of 24 Feb 2026: Did you join using https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/join.php? That does nothing special but tell you to use BOINC Project Manager and select ODLK1 from the list (it's not in the list) or copy https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/ into the URL. I'm not a newb. I have 1.2 m credit here from other machines; some currently running this project, This machine USED to run this project. It was not getting any work and instead of resetting I removed. Resetting worked on the other machine. Wouldn't have posted if it was some simple issue. This machine still gets Failed to add project after removing the project and readding using https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/ in project adding. I need some expert help here. Maybe I need to flush the local DNS cache. It's like the machine is trying to connect to the old IP. EDIT: Local DNS service is shut down No local hosts file additions. The machine was restarted several times. EDIT2: I went to a Windows 7 OS in VBox with ODLK1 installed. It was pre-new IP. It has the "HTTP file not found ". Did a project reset and master file table d/led and it's got 58 new WU's. So it's not an older OS or certificate issue. That Windows 7 client has almost all services shutdown. EDIT3: Went to another Win7 client that has never had ODLK1 project. It took 3 minutes but finally ODLK1 got to the user login screen and is added. Looking for another Win 7 client that has ODLK1 pre-IP change. EDIT4: One of my other Win7 client VM's had ODLK1 added. Removed, readded with no issues This error is isolated to this server. :sigh: |

This is the error received: 2/25/2026 1:30:57 PM | | Fetching configuration file from https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/get_project_config.php 2/25/2026 1:30:58 PM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 2/25/2026 1:30:59 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Any idea how this local BOINC config continues to use the old IP address? Guess this is a question for BOINC main forums. |

Did some advanced BOINC work. Copied all the ODLK1 project xml's from working Win7 client VM into this data directory: (account_boinc.multi-pool.info_latinsquares.xml, etc) Edited the client_config.xml (backing up fiorst!!!) then added the appropriate project info: <project>
<master_url>https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/</master_url>
<project_name>latinsquares</project_name>
<symstore></symstore>
<user_name>marmot</user_name>

.latinsquares is now added to this server's install again!!! Did a project reset: 2/25/2026 2:33:17 PM | latinsquares | Fetching scheduler list 2/25/2026 2:33:19 PM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 2/25/2026 2:33:20 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. SRBase is connecting. This BOINC install has been running WU's reliably for years. The firewall has only blocked MS telemetry IP's. No other machine is having this issue. I'm baffled. Maybe there is a host file in Windows I'm missing and why would it have ODLK1's old IP? |

Usually the project reset will help in attach again (and with the server ip changes sometimes is is the unique solution). |
