A reason to smile: Eminem took to social media Monday to show off a chip he received from after staying sober for 12 years.
He was snapped in LA earlier this year

The Grammy-winning rapper, who had long chronicled in his work his affinity for
various drugs, ceased consuming narcotics including Vicodin, Ambien Cod and Valium in 2008,
a year after he had a methadone overdose.
After sparsely releasing new music for more than four years, he released the record Relapse in May of
2009, made after he got off drugs.

In regards to the overdose, he said that an 'acquaintance' gave him medication he later learned
was methadone, 'which is used to wean heroin addicts off dope.


The Without Me artist admitted that his 'doctor told [him that] the amount of methadone [he'd] taken was equivalent to shooting up four bags of heroin.
'Had I known it was methadone, I probably wouldn't have taken it,' he told the magazine.
But as bad as I was back then, I can't even say 100 percent
for sure ... even when they told me I almost died, it didn't click.'
In 2010, he released the album Recovery, which won the Grammy for Best Rap Album the following year.

On Twitter, the My Name Is rapper's fans, hailed him for the milestone in his journey.

Another - using the pop culture reference for hardcore fans from his track Stan - wrote, 'We Stan Our
King.'
His fellow artist Kxng Kong, referring to the current lockdown, wrote
